As someone who has worked in girl illness problems for sometime, Ithink it is really critical to disagree points done in Andy McIntosh’sarticle “Reefer stupidity character persists” (The Californian, May21).
Mr. McIntosh wants us to think that a film expelled 75 yearsago, that we have never seen, nor has any person we know, is the reasonthe pull to approve pot (Proposition 19) mislaid at the ballotbox final November. Not likely.Drug rehab teens.
The electorate of California, after getting more information both sides of theargument to approve marijuana, came to the judicious close thatCalifornia won’t be improved off with more people walking, working, playing and pushing stoned.
California family groups justly upheld the defeat oflegalizing pot since according to the U.S. Department ofHealth and Human Services, pot is the No. 1 obsession for 65percent or larger of teens in drug rehab (in San Diego County, thepercentage is even higher, at 73 percent).
In addition, pot smoking is mortal to the maturingadolescent brain by loitering the merger of amicable skills, altering brain circuits, causing short-term mental recall loss andcontributing to amotivational syndrome.
